How to Use Fly Control Products Safely

Nothing can be more irritating for your barn animals than flies around them.  They pose serious health risks as well as disturb the peace of the space.  Fortunately, there are different products for fly control

Several studies prove that fly control products are effective. But, if they are not used safely, they might harm you, barn animals, and everyone in and around the barn.  The safety of everyone is in your hands.

To ensure application of fly control products in your barn is safe for everyone, consider the following tips.

Choose environmentally friendly products

If the environment is safe, people living in it are safe. So, you should think about the environment by purchasing environmentally friendly products. Check the details mentioned on the products to ensure that the compositions are safe for the environment.  Remember, natural and organic options come with fewer risks.

Read and follow product labels

Every fly control item comes with the manufacturer’s instructions.  The instructions are regarding the application, dosage, and safety precautions of the products.  You should read them carefully and try to follow them as much as possible. You can make minor changes but no major changes to avoid future complications.

Don’t over-apply

The instructions on the products describe the required dose for their application.  We recommend you follow it strictly to avoid overapplication. It’s said that overapplication of the fly control solutions increases the risks of exposure, reducing their effectiveness and harming the human population.

Monitor the applied areas

We know it’s difficult, especially when the barn is spread in a large area.  But this is important to ensure the safety of your environment and people. So, keep an eye on the areas where you have applied fly control solutions. The best thing is to restrict access to these areas until the products dry or get settled.  This will prevent direct contact.

Ventilate the applied areas

Barns are generally outdoors, so ventilation is not an issue. But, if you are applying in any enclosed area of your barn, keep it ventilated. During application, keep the doors and windows open so that fresh air can circulate and reduce any exposure to fumes.  Ventilation is also important for quick drying of the solutions.

Use physical barriers

You or anyone else can step into applied areas immediately after application.  This can spoil your effort and give no positive results. So, restrict access to these areas using physical barriers.  You can have physical barriers, such as screens or nets.  You can completely close the area for a certain period of time.

Dispose of the empty containers properly

Fly Control Misting Systems and other products are generally available in containers. After using the products, dispose of them carefully.  There are certain local regulations regarding the disposal of the containers.  But before disposing, thoroughly rinse the containers. Rinsing minimizes residue, protecting the environment and the people around it.

Educate everyone

If you are using fly control items in your barn, educate people working for you or living around the barn. Tell them how the presence of fly control products is hazardous to them and how they can protect themselves. Instruct them not to touch or ingest treated areas.

Closing Lines

With the intention of killing flies, you shouldn’t forget about the safety of your loved ones. Remember the safety tips discussed in this post and take your steps accordingly.
